Job Description:
The Director will work closely with the General Manager and Commissioner, and staff of the Branch, to improve insurance affordability for Northern Australia. You will also provide leadership for the team within the branch to deliver this new program.The role requires highly developed expertise in strategic assessment, analysis and negotiation, communication, management and staff development, drawing upon a sound depth of experience in competition matters, and applied economics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the building and development of key resources within your team
- Develop frameworks for monitoring and reporting changes in insurance premiums, development of report templates
- Develop team process and functions and build a positive, productive culture within a newly formed team
- Lead and guide staff to investigate and analyse information, including complex quantitative datasets, to form evidence-based conclusions
- Manage data collection activities, including through the use of voluntary and compulsory information gathering powers under the Competition and Consumer Act
- Apply legal, economic, competition and regulatory concepts and principles to develop responses to complex market issues
- Oversee both regular reporting and in depth market analysis reporting, ensuring that each work stream is planned, data and information is collected in time, managed appropriately and key issues and messages are identified and communicated clearly
- Lead and manage a team across multiple physical locations to deliver regular reports, including providing direction; allocating responsibilities; giving feedback; setting priorities; coaching and developing team members
- Coordinate work in a collegiate way with the other directors in the branch and mentor and motivate team members, to ensure that the branch works together to achieve outcomes and supports a healthy culture
- Oversee research and interpretation of relevant legislation and policy frameworks
- Prepare and present briefs, reports and publications for a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including Commissioners, government, businesses, members of the public, consumer advocates and industry groups
- Lead engagement with stakeholders relating to data and information collection, analysis of issues and the development of relevant policy initiatives
- Engage collaboratively with staff throughout the ACCC and AER, including Commissioners and with other regulators and agencies
