City of Fresno Job Openings – Maintenance Electrician

Job Description:

The Fresno County Department of Internal Services is currently offering a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for experienced, adept electricians interested in pursuing a career as a Maintenance Electrician.

Job Responsibilities:

• Installs, maintains, and repairs motors, compressors, generators, and transformer taps, as well as other electrical systems and related components.
• Analyzes electrical systems using voltage and amperage readings and makes recommendations for changes.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs lighting fixtures, conduit, breakers, fuses, and related parts and equipment.
• Plans electrical work, determines required materials, and estimates costs.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical raceways, switchgear, and related enclosures for electrical services.

Job Requirements:

Ability to:

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels, as well as with other agencies and the public;
• Read work instructions and safety labels;
• Practice appropriate safety precautions and procedures;
• Install or adapt equipment and technology to County facilities;
• Effectively operate voltmeters, meggers, ammeters, voltage testers, and other modern electrical tools and equipment used to test, install, maintain, and repair electrical devices and systems;
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
• Read and interpret blueprint drawings and related construction documents;

Qualification & Experience:

• Six (6) years of full-time, paid work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment, wiring, and systems, up to and including 480 volts, in a commercial and/or industrial setting.
• Possession of a certificate of completion from an electrician apprenticeship program recognized by the California Apprenticeship Council, Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, or a state apprenticeship council authorized by the Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship Training.
