Job Description:
The City is looking for a Building Compliance Officer to join our compliance team until 2 September 2025.The position provides technical and administrative support to the investigation of building work and compliance with the legislative requirements of the Planning Act, Building Act, Building Code of Australia, the City Plan and Local Law 17
Job Responsibilities:
- Document findings regarding the investigation
- Review the relevant legislation, development approvals and plans as necessary
- Perform and document site inspections
- Commence and follow through with enforcement action to achieve compliance, while maintaining a high level of customer service
- Investigate allegations/customer requests about building work or prescribed tidal work
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
- Driver’s Licence Class C Unrestricted and a WHS Licence General Construction (White Card)
- Knowledge of the Planning Act, Building Act, Building Code of Australia, and the City Plan
- Ability to prioritise and manage a high workload
- Excellent level of documentation and written communication skills
- Experience with the City’s various systems relevant to the position, including all MS Office suite, Objective, and Pathway
- Works productively in a team environment
- Sound negotiation and mediation skills.
