Job Description:
This position sits within Council’s Waste Services Department. This department aims to provide affordable, sustainable and safe waste management for residents and business in the Moreton Bay region. Waste Services delivers a wide range of waste management activities, including kerbside and on-demand bulky waste and recycling collections, operation of three major waste management facilities with landfills, two Treasure Markets and eight waste transfer stations. Impact monitoring and long-term waste and recycling strategy, planning, education and capital programs and Stakeholder liaison are also key activities that ensure waste is managed sustainably into the future. The Department employs approximately 65 staff, more than 55 contractors and manages an annual operational budget of approximately $49M.
Job Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include operating and maintaining the weighbridge facilities/equipment and assisting with general waste disposal inquiries including advice in relation to disposal and recycling of material. You will process payments in accordance with Council fees, assess waste being disposed by users and checking of all loads and ensure compliance with all current legislation, approved standards, policies and procedures relating to weighbridge practices and processes.
Job Requirements:
- You will have experience working in a fast-paced customer service position and be able to work within a highly regulated industry that requires attention to detail and strict compliance with policies and procedures, including health and safety requirements.
- To be successful in this role you must hold a Construction Induction Card (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement)and a current C class drivers’ licence.
- As a must, you will be able to demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to ensure our customers are serviced and welcomed in the highest regards at our facilities.
