Job Description:
As a Project Estimator/Purchasing Agent, you’ll work directly with the Redfin Home Services team to support timely estimation of renovation projects from $3,000 to $100,000, and convert projects from the proposal phase to structured Purchase Orders and dynamic calendars. Setting projects up with accurate budgets and actionable timelines will help Redfin Now grow its renovation capabilities and scale across new markets in 2019. You’ll be responsible for creating job takeoffs and drawings, estimating, creating bid packages, procuring labor and materials, and creating project timelines for residential renovation projects in multiple markets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Refine Redfin’s national product and service list based on feedback from competitive bids and vendors
- Coordinate vendor availability and schedule upcoming jobs with trade partners using a shared, cloud-based system; negotiate and manage vendor engagements; build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors
- Create detailed scopes of work, including product selections from standard design schemes, based on initial proposals from field employees
- Provide accurate job costing/budgeting projections based on product and selection lists unique to each market; determine the right labor resources and materials to complete each project
- Convert job estimates into Purchase Orders to keep purchasing decisions in compliance using construction management software
- Manage competitive bid process to ensure jobs receive the most favorable pricing; create, distribute and monitor RFIs
Job Requirements:
- Familiarity with trade specifications and line item costs
- Intermediate-level knowledge of Excel
- Two years of experience in residential construction estimating and/or purchasing
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management software
- Knowledge of common Apple- and Microsoft-platform software
- Experience with Construction Management software — previous Builder trend experience a plus
- Eagerness to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, negotiation, presentation and communication skills
