Job Description: The Protein Biochemistry Group at Regeneron is seeking a biophysical chemist Scientist to provide analytical protein characterization through the use of ground-breaking technologies. You will be responsible for providing in-depth biophysical and biochemical characterization of proteins to support development programs in our pipeline. You will be expected to take on a role in applying a diverse array of sophisticated biophysical techniques to deepen our knowledge of labeled proteins and their heterogeneity to support regulatory submission. This is a permanent position in the Protein Biochemistry Group that will be responsible for development, purification and characterization of the critical protein reagents. Job Responsibilities: Manage and mentor research associates and work as part of a collaborative team to meet project milestones Develop site-specific labeling methods as an orthogonal to amine coupling This position will provide the opportunity to make visible contributions to a variety of projects while interacting with a knowledgeable and dedicated multidisciplinary team Maintain documentation of experimental procedures and results in a laboratory notebook per established guidelines Provide timely support to internal and external collaborators and present results and reports at various meetings Manage stability testing program for critical protein reagents Provide well characterized protein reagents to other departments in the company and to collaborators Develop and implement new analytical techniques to assess the stability of labeled protein reagents including freeze/thaw studies; optimize labeling conditions and formulation buffers to improve reagent stability Conduct experiments to determine quality attributes of labeled drugs that impact downstream assays Purify and characterize labeled and unlabeled proteins and anti-drug antibodies at both small and large scale Job Requirements: This role requires a PhD in Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related discipline with 0-2 years of experience with an emphasis on protein purification and characterization. Demonstrated solid proficiency in various protein purification techniques including affinity, ion exchange, gel filtration, HIC; strong FPLC/liquid chromatography experience. Experience with protein characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, Kinetic and Binding studies using SPR/BLI technology, CE-SDS, IEF/cIEF, SEC. Experience with additional analytical techniques, such as LC-MS, SEC-MALS, DLS, and DSC is a plus. Experience in labeling proteins with biotin, ruthenium, alexa fluor and other dye labels preferred. Ability to critically analyze and troubleshoot scientific problems. A high level of scientific initiative and ability to multi-task, prioritize work and handle multiple projects at once. Ability to work independently but also within a collaborative team environment and have flexibility to work on changing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You have strong initiative and aim to complete challenging tasks and learn new technologies. You are capable of multi-tasking, working both independently and within a team environment.
